Born and brought up in the city of nawabs "Lucknow", Uttar Pradesh, INDIA. Shashank, graduated from Indian Institute of Science Education & Research Kolkata and majored in Chemical Sciences. He worked in several areas spanning from polymer sciences, material sciences, theoretical & computational chemistry as an undergraduate researcher for 4 years. Most of his work was published as a lead author in reputed peer reviewed journals. His work on developing novel coarse grained models for studying anomalies of water won him the Best poster award in Solid State Physics symposium, 2013. He was the only undergraduate researcher to receive the award among all graduate, post doc and research scientists. While working most of the time during semesters in undergraduate years he spent his summers in various research labs in Texas, United States and Manchester, United Kingdom. After his Integrated BS-MS, he worked as a research assistant in Molecular Biophysics Unit (MBU), Indian Institute of Sciences. MBU was setup in 1971 by famous professor Dr. G. Ramachandran who is famous for his work on Ramachandran Map. 
Currently, he is second year graduate student in the lab of Prof. Emad Tajkhorshid at University of Illinois at Urbana -Champaign. He is working on understanding the mechanics of neurotransmitter transporters and using enhanced simulation methods to look into the SNARE assisted membrane fusion process.
